PROJECT BACKGROUND
We
are a group of students from Nanyang Girls' High School embarking on our
Integrated Humanities project. The country chosen for this research project is
India. We decided on India because it is an exemplary example of a developing
country with social, economic and environmental aspects which we can find out
more about. Together with a growing economy, India also experiences diverse
cultures and religions. Apart from these areas India is positively renowned
for, India also has certain major issues worthy of us to explore about. India
has a considerable problem of overcrowding as well as other prospects such as
gender inequality issues and the disparity between the rich and poor. To end
off, we hope that this website will be an informative one for you! :)
Here is a short video to find out more about India...
ABSTRACT
India
is the second most populous country and the most populous democracy in the
world, also the seventh largest country by area. As India is progressing and
developing economically, socially and in all other aspects of a developing
nation, many problems and difficulties arise. These should be recognised and realised
by all. There is an urgent need to solve these problems, but to do so, issues must first be identified. Globalisation is happening anywhere, anytime, and In this project, we will discuss the causes and
consequences, as well as draw the inter-issue and intra-issue links. Through
exploring and analysing major issues such as overpopulation, gender inequality,
religious conflicts and the rich-poor disparity, we aim to ameliorate the level
of understanding of the Indian society today. An analysis of the past events
can help is to foresee trends, alleviate present problems or even predict
future outcomings.
